Host: What is the CSS profile?

Brad Barnett: The CSS profile is another financial aid application. Now, if you are planning for financial aid, every school that awards you federal aid must go by the free applications for Federal student aid but some schools will request the CSS profile to be completed, so, they can determine the eligibility for their institutional dollars, the money that they own and they control. You will typically find, if you need to complete a CSS profile then it's done at Private colleges. Most Public colleges don t use that form for their institutional money so, it's usually something that s just applicable on the private sector.
