Host: Why does my Financial Aid Award Notice say, preliminary? Brad Barnett: Usually when you get a preliminary Financial Aid Award Notice, its because you are a perspective student, maybe you are first time freshman, and you are comparing schools. And often times what that simply means is the school wants to try to give you some indication of what aid they want to offer you, they haven t finished the complete review of your financial aid application yet. So the preliminary award notice is usually pretty solid, if you are comfortable with the accuracy of what you have put on the financial aid application, but if later, after the financial aid office reviews your application and some things need to change then your Financial Aid Award Notice would probably change as well.
