Host: Are my parents required to be included on the FAFSA? Brad Barnett: The FAFSA is actually going to tell you, whether your parents are required to be included on the FAFSA. There are series of questions that will ask you about your status and they usually have to deal with your age and whether you are married or a graduate student. The questions are subject to change every year, but in short, if you can answer yes to one of those questions, then we don t need your parents on the FAFSA. You are what's called an independent student, but if you cannot answer yes to any of those questions in that section, then your parents are required to be on the FAFSA form.
