Host: My parents are refusing to complete my FAFSA. What can I do?
Brad Barnett: This is a tough situation; we see this every year. Some parents just don t want to put their information on the FAFSA. Now, if they are supposed to, based on the way you answer the question, so you are dependent student, then they have to be there. So, if they won t fill that out, talk to your Financial Aid Officer. At times we can speak to your parents on your behalf; explain to them why it's needed and often times they ll submit the information on the FAFSA once we have had that discussion; but if they still won t, they need to explain to us the reason, why. In some situations we can override this request, requirement for your parent s information, but they are very special circumstances. So, talk to your Financial Aid Officer, explain to them what s going on and we ll be happy to help you out best we can.
