Host: How do you catch a cold?

Ronald Turner: Well, how you catch a cold depends a little bit on which virus you are talking about, that is causing it. So, a cold is caused by Rhinoviruses is almost always caught by direct contact with somebody who has Rhinovirus cold themselves and is transmitted by direct contact. So, it varies a little bit by the type of virus, but for the most colds it is probably direct contact.
