Hi, I am Janet. I would like to talk to you now about organizing your car. If you are a little leery of organizing your house, it seems a little overwhelming to you, the best way to start is to pick a small space with a defined purpose, start organizing there. Like a linen closet or a chest of drawers or your car. Your car has a defined purpose. Just like a business has cars or fleet of trucks that they use for a specific purpose, you need to use your car for specific purpose; traveling.
Now, every car has a few storage spaces that will help you if you maximize their use. One is a trunk. You should keep any business, baby or sports equipment in your trunk that you will need when you are out. Leave everything in your trunk to store it there until you need it, and then when you are done, when you no longer need the items, you can remove them.
Another storage space within a car is the glove compartment. Use this for small items. I always keep pencils or pens and scissors, my car manual and registration in my glove compartment. Along with that, I also keep bug spray because I always seem to need it when I am out. I always keep a bag of wipes, thats great for quick cleanups in your car, or if you get stuck in traffic, I find myself cleaning my windows. You also need to tailor your car to whatever needs you have. I found this dandy little item that I have a Kleenex box and some snacks. It always seems that somebody in my house needs a Kleenex when we are traveling in the car. I also find that I skip meals sometimes when Im out on appointments, so to keep me from driving through the fast food drive through I save a couple of snacks for myself in the car. This is also great for kids too, they love a snack in the car.
The main rule and organizing tool you need in a car is a trash can. If your car does not have a built-in trash can, its as easy as a plastic shopping bag looped over an armrest in your car, use it and empty it often. In this way your car can become uncluttered.
I also have a rule in my car that you take everything out when you return home. When my kids were young they liked to bring toys with them in the car or books to read to occupy them. The rule was, that was fine, they could bring anything they wanted, but when we returned home they had to take the stuff out of the car and put it away. Thats also a rule for me. I never leave my purse or my keys or my cell phone or shopping bags of stuff I have purchased, I never leave that stuff in my car, that way your car stays uncluttered and organized, and I dont misplace these items.
So, try organizing your car to begin your organizing efforts around your house.
