Host: What can parents do to ensure that their child has a safer flight?
Nancy McBride: Well, I think it is important for parents and guardians to demystify the whole flying experience. If they can go to the airport ahead of time so their child can get a feel for what it is going to be like.
It they can not do that, certainly make enough time before the flight. So, that they are not rushed, they are not half filled, they have got all the paper work filled out and they are able to take their child to introduce them to different flight personnel who may be assisting them and that they spent the time to sit down with their child to discuss how important it is to contact the flight attendant if anything should happen to them while they are actually flying.
These are people who can provide assistance, any flight personal, any airlines personal, they usually have names tags on, so this is something that child can look for, they are in uniforms. These are low risk helping adults that child could seek out if they need assistance.
