Host: How should parents obtain their child s fingerprints?

Nancy McBride: Well, it is really important for parents and guardians to understand that fingerprints of their child need to be taken by a trained person. Whether that is a professional or somebody who has been trained to do it and the print should be taken on paper stock that can be entered into the National Crime Information Centre, NCIC computer, should they need to be. So, the best way to ensure both of those things is to check with your local Law Enforcement Department, see if they are offering fingerprinting, when they offer it and when you can get your child printed, making sure that again, taken by a professional and taken on paper stock that could be used should you need to use it.
