Host: What makes tobacco and smoking so harmful?

Eletta Hansen: A single cigarette today contains over 4000 chemicals, at least 60 of those are cancer causing. Among the chemicals are products like cyanide, arsenic, lead and even plutonium, which are actually poisonous to the system. These chemicals are often found in everyday products that you use around your home, lethal products like rat poison, gasoline, paint thinner, roach and ant killer, the primary ingredient in nicotine is insecticide, so when you smoke, you quite really think about it as being as if you have sprayed for bugs and simply inhaled it. These chemicals cause very dangerous diseases in our body.
