Toni Lipe: Hi, my name is Toni Lipe. I own Toni's Design Studio. Today, we are going to talk about how to knit. I am going to talk to you today about the equipment you will need for knitting, casting on, holding the yarn and knitting needles properly, how to work with the knit stitches, Garter stitch and Stockinette stitch, the Purl stitch and binding off.

The basic equipment you will need for knitting are knitting needles, yarn and scissors. We will talk about the details later.

While you are knitting, it's a good idea to have a tote bag or a basket to keep your knitting supplies secured because you will have scissor, tapestry needles, knitting needles, you want to make sure that you don't drop them which will break them or you don t want to sit on them which will be quite painful. So, it's always a good idea to have a basket or a project bag nearby to hold all of your knitting supplies.

Before we get started, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I have a BA in Business Administration and an MBA from George Mason University. I have been knitting for about 25 years now. I enjoyed teaching as well as taking knitting classes. I am excited about sharing my favorite craft with you. Let's start knitting.
