Pool Set Up Shots - The Rosebud

Andy Segal: Hi, I am Andy Segal and today we are performing some amazing trick shots. This one here is called the Rose Bud Shot. We have the cluster of seven balls the, 8-ball is in the middle, the idea is to make the 8. What we are going to do is we are going shoot into the ball and the 8-ball is going to go into this pocket and the way you set this up, the 8-ball is right on the spot, the ten and the thirteen are touching the 8, and lined straight across the table, the eleven ball is touching the ten and the gap between the eleven and the eight is lined up just outside the edge of the point and between the eight and twelve, it lines up just inside the point and the gap between the eight and the nine is lined up for here. When I to shoot the cue ball, the cue ball is going the hit the nine, I line it right up with these balls, the cue ball is going to hit the nine causing these balls to get out of the way, the nine ball is going to hit the eight into the fourteen and then rickashay off into the corner.

Now, sometimes, when you shot this, the 8-ball may miss over here. What that means is that, it's hitting the fourteen and caroming off of it, at the too sharp of an angle so, what you want to do in that case is move the fourteen this way to give yourself a full of hit on the fourteen and that will cause the 8-ball to adjust into the pocket. If the 8-ball misses here that means that it hitting fourteen to full, you want to adjust the fourteen this way so, it hits the center and then adjust into the pocket.

Now, this shot is symmetrical. We can make the 8-ball in anyone of these four pockets, this time we are going to make it in the side pocket, shooting directly into the fourteen, eight, nine line, it goes right in. Now, if you want to spice it up, you can cover the balls with the clock, now, keep in mind, you still want keep the cue ball along the same line and shot directly for the same bal.
