Host: Should people have a one dimensional focus?

Gary Ryan Blair: So, should companies and people organizations, should they have a one dimensional focus, what kind of a line of sight should they have? Absolutely, I do believe that people need to be specialist. The specialists are where the money is made, specialist truly is where you can focus on your time for this reason. We live in a world of limitation and we have very little control over that, there is limitations of time, there is only 24 hours in a day. There is limitation of knowledge, there is only so much that anyone of us know. We have limitations of contacts in terms of the number of people we can communicate with. There is limitations of money in terms of how much we have access to at any given moment of time, sometimes it is just whatever is in our pocket, that's just the way that it works.

Because there are limitations, inherent limitations that we truly do not have control over on situations by situation basis. It's imperative that we find a way to identify the thing that we excel at, that being our core competency and throw everything we've got at it. You can't afford to spend time trying to over compensate for weaknesses and do things that you are trying to make up for -- surround yourself with people who have strength in those areas where you are weak. But yes I do believe in that and I do believe in the idea of follow one course until successful, pick your spot and move forward. Now for some this would be controversial, but that's the way that works.
