Hi, my name is Mark Boudreau and I am with Spectrum Auto Painting and Collision Center and today, I am going to show you how to change a headlamp bulb and a tail lamp bulb in your car. Right now, I am going to show you how to identify which bulb might need replacement, identifying the types of bulbs and their function and a light check.

Let us start with determining if a light needs to be replaced. We are going to start by opening the door and turning on the lights for the car. As we look at the car, we can see that we have all of the headlamps and corner lamps on, on the passenger or right side of the vehicle and on the left side, we have a high beam, a low beam which is out and the corner light. So, in this vehicle, we need to replace the low beam headlamp. Now, we are going to talk about the types of bulbs and their function. I am going to turn the lights back off to conserve the battery of the car. So, in the front of this car we have a corner and/or park lamp. This lamp is used for indicating turns, left or right, in this case left and also used for driving lights to illuminate at dark or twilight. The low beam is used for everyday driving conditions at night in the city or with other traffic. The high beam is used only on country roads where there is no other ambient light or oncoming traffic.

This car also has an added feature, fog lamps which you can see here in the bumper. Now, we are going to look at the types of bulbs. I know that this vehicle needs a headlamp bulb. This is a low beam bulb for this car. The next thing we are going to do is talk about accessing that headlamp so we can get the bulb out and change it.
