Host: What is parole?

Ed Bales: Parole is when you are released from prison early. For example, let's say you have a sentence of between two and four years. You serve the two year period of time, then you maybe eligible to apply for parole. Usually inmates do not get approved the first time when they apply for parole, but there are exceptions to that rule. It is a period of time that you must serve, a minimum period of time and then you may not have to serve the maximum of your sentence.
