Host: What is a Commutation of Sentence?
Ed Bales: A Commutation of Sentence is usually the shortening of your sentence. It can be done a couple of different ways. You can apply if you are an inmate to the warden of the facility. They are very very hard to get, almost no chance of getting a warden to cut your sentence. The other way is filing it through the Governor's Office or through the President's Office, US Pardon Attorney. Those are the options that you have as an inmate to file grievances and that is one petition that you can file.
