Hello, my name is Keith Harmon with Smart Wired Home and we are here today to talk about how to select and install a high definition home theatre. So, something I have been doing for - well, since puberty when I have been helping people out, installing my own systems, helping me friends and family with installing various home technologies including home theatres and Smart Wired Home has been around for about three years installing these kinds of systems. So, what are we going to talk about today?
Here, we have got -- first of all our introduction and then we are going to talk about how do you select the correct television screen. That many people think that selecting the big screen, you just get a big TV and that is a home theatre, but that is not what it is all about. Certainly, that is major component, but another major component is the sound. So, you have got to have the right audio environment and have the right sources. So, when we start talking about sources, we look at selecting a DVD player, which is one of the decisions you are going to have to make.
Another one is selecting the surround sound receiver, how you are going to take that surround sound that is supposed to come from all the different directions and process that and put it around the room and then have that go to the right speakers that you select. Making those speakers work together with the surround sound receiver to really give you that theater like experience. Next, we will look at home theater in a box, how do we look at this as an option to reduce a number of things you have to buy and probably the most important thing that is selecting a remote. A lot of you will think, well, it comes with a remote.
This one controls 37 devices, is not that great? Well, yeah, it is great if you can use it and if your spouse can use it and if your kids can use it. I know sometimes, it is like only the kids can use it, but the point is that having a good integrated remote is what is going to make this whole thing easy for you to use and make you happy in the end. Now, that you have got a whole houseful or a roomful of boxes and equipment and everything else, how are we going to make it all work? Connecting it up, cables, the specific kinds of cables that you are going to need and making it all work for you in your home environment.
So, that is what we are going to talk about, so on we go.
Explain the phrase, "The world is a wrap around, surround sound, totally interactive theater of the mind."
