    Host: How should I approach the teacher if my child is being bullied?

    Lee Dorman: If you feel that your child is being bullied in a class, you really need to let the teacher know immediately. There is a zero tolerance for bullying in almost every school system in the United States. Teachers and administrators understand how devastating it is for a child to feel as though they are afraid that they don't want to go to school, they don't want to go to lunch and having someone bully a student is simply not acceptable. Teachers don't accept it, administrators don't accept it and you shouldn't accept it either.

    So if you feel that your child is being bullied you need to call the teacher immediately, tell the teacher what you believe is going on and ask if you can come in for a conference because at that point you and the teacher and perhaps a guidance counselor or a principal can become problem solvers to take care of the situation for your child.
