The Lessons Learned from Organization

Janet Schiesl: Hi, I am Janet Schiesl from Basic Organization. I am talking about organizing toys. Now that you have zones for your toys, you have stored them and labelled them, I just want to take a moment to talk about the lessons that this is going to teach your children. Why would you organize, why would you do all this work for the toys? You are your child's first teacher and probably their best and these are lessons that they will use throughout their life. It teaches them the responsibility to take care of their own things and it also sets boundaries for them, not only within the home, but in the future, throughout their life. So it is a really good lesson to teach your children right from the beginning. A young child can learn how to cleanup after themselves really at quite a young age. These systems will also make your life easier. You will be able to manage what you have in your house much easier, much more quickly. This will help you also to create a routine with your children. I always suggest that you have a scheduled time maybe before dinner or after dinner or before your children go to bed where that you really take a few minutes to straighten up the toys. If everyone in the house does it, it can be a fun thing and it really doesn't take very long if everyone participates. So try these lessons and see how your kids do. I wish you good luck.
