Host: Are pet owners more likely to evacuate a dangerous situation at home if they can take their pets with them?

Lesa Miller: Almost definitely. Yeah, if there is a safe place for them to take their animals, pet owners will leave and as we saw in Katrina, so many people did not leave and some of them paid a very dear price for that. There were not co-shelters set up for these animals and when there is, these people will be able to go to the shelters if they need to, with their animals.
