Gloria McDonald: This is a big question that everybody always wants to know, how can I make Valentine's Day special and romantic for my significant other and my answer to that is this is not about the golden rule; the golden rule is treat other people the way you want to be treated. Romance is always in the eyes of the beholder, so this is really about the platinum rule, which is treating someone else the way they want to be treated. So, part of creating romance for your significant other is knowing what are that little things that are special to them; what will make the evening wonderful for them; What can you do to express yourself or to give a gift or to do something special for them that they want, something in the way that they would appreciate it and they would see it as wonderful. So, it is really about understanding, what makes your significant other tick and doing something that is quite special for them, maybe something that is quite out of character and quite of the ordinary for you.

So, maybe you love to go out to dinner, but your significant other would really much rather be at home and be quiet. Then doing something very, very special for your significant other on this Valentine's Day would be being home and being quiet for them. It is not always about giving them a great gift or having candles and chocolates and romantic music. It is about different little things that show that you have thought about the other person and that you care about them and that you understand them.
