Speaker: How do you keep business and work away from your private time together?
Toni Coleman: Again, that goes right back to boundaries. It's you have to really think about; when you leave the office, it's almost like you have to take off one hand and put another head-on. You have to really make this kind transition and think about if you are somebody who has a history of sitting at home on the computer with the Blackberry making the phone call, if you are working with someone that you are also seeing, living with, then you need to be sensitive to that and not be having those phone calls in the place where they can hear or not be sitting there working on the work product and discussing it with them.
You really have to make a conscious effort and what I would recommend is that they just stay at work later and get the work done, so they are in physical environment. It helps to maintain the boundary or that if they have to do some kind of extra work, maybe going on the weekend or if their significant other goes and works out at a certain time, they can pullout the laptop then and get it done or makes those phone calls.
So sort of really trying to keep again those boundaries and in general people should do this because in general, this is the problem for folks; but again, it doubly difficult when you have this office romance.
