Host: What are some of the complications?

Kathy Reily: Some of the complications related to diabetes are eye disease, kidney disease, nerve damage with resulting problems to disease and some cardiac problems such as an increase incidence of heart attack or stroke. These can best be prevented by controlling the blood sugar. The level of sugar in the blood stream is very important. It helps to keep the blood vessel healthier if the sugar is in the target range and if the blood vessel is healthier then it keeps the particular organ system or a part of the body healthier.
