Host: What about blood pressure?

Kathy Reily: It is important to keep blood pressure under control. Again, for many of the same reasons because people with diabetes will have an increases risk for heart attack or stroke and having high blood pressure is a risk factor for a heart attack and stroke. Most people with diabetes will need some medication in order to get their blood pressure under control and the target level that we encourage for people with diabetes is to keep their blood pressure under 130/80.
