Speaker: How often and how long should you exercise?
Kathy Reily: We usually recommend that you exercise four to five times a week with about 30 minutes each of those times. We would like you to exercise a little bit every day because the blood sugar is lowered than every day and the affect of the lowering of the blood sugar is not only happen involve your exercising, but it continues on after the exercise is over and that is what helps to continue to lower the blood sugar. If you can't do 30 minutes a day, we will recommend that you start whatever you can. Everybody will start at a different level and if you can do five or ten minutes at a time that is still going to be very helpful. You don't necessarily have to do these 30 minutes all at one time. If you are crunched for time you can do 15 minutes one morning, 15 minutes later that afternoon with the goal of working not to about 30 minutes at a time.
