Host: What is low blood sugar?

Kathy Reily: Persons with diabetes that take some of the pills or insulin will run the risk of having low blood sugar. That is the side effect of certain medications in insulin and a low blood sugar is when the blood sugar drops below 70. There are symptoms for this low blood sugar. Some of them would be sweating, shaking, some people would get a headache, feel a little bit lightheaded or anxious maybe a little bit of blurry vision or simply sometimes just don't feel themselves or say they might feel a little bit weird. That is the effect of the blood sugar dropping. As soon as someone feels these symptoms, we recommend they do check their blood sugar and if it is below 70, go ahead and treat it.
