Is dating different if you're over 40?

Gloria MacDonald: Hi! My name is Gloria MacDonald. I am a dating and relationship expert. I have a dating service called Perfect Partners and I also have a variety of workbooks and CD programs that I have developed to help people who are out there dating be as successful as they can possibly be. So for example, I have a program that's the Seven Attitudes of Highly Successful Daters. I have one that's called the 90-day Relationship Attraction Conditioning Program or for those people who find it difficult to flirt I have a workbook, CD and DVD set that's called Flirting Made Easy and I have a CD that's called the Mini Mind Management System and that's really to help you overcome all those little nagging things that try to pull you down, get you discouraged or feel like you are just no good at getting out there or meeting people and you don't know what to do on a date. So today, we are going to talk about something that's near and dear to my heart, which is dating for people who are over 40 or really kind of say 36, 37. I found that that's the age range where things start to really change in the dating experience and the part of what we are going to talk about is why is it different when you hit that age range. I have what I called the six categories of women. So what are the ages and stages that women are at? We will talk about how men hunt today; we will talk about dating when you have children and we will talk about the big question, sex.

Host: Is dating different if you are over 40?

Gloria MacDonald: Dating really is different when you hit that 40 plus age range or even as I said before kind of 36, 37, that's where I find, it really starts to change and there are variety of reasons for that. One is, basically, anyone at that age when we're out single again or still single at that age, we have all went through some type of relationship. So we have all had some more multiple series of rejection and so our hearts are a little more tender, frankly, and we just want to be rejected. We don't have that, I'll never die, vincible attitude we did when we were in our teens and twenties and so it adds a whole another level of complexity to dating and very often people might have been married and divorced, so they are on a second relationship. Lots of people have children, so again adds levels of complexities. The situations in how we were meeting people have changed dramatically. Again, when we were in our teens and twenties you met people at school. There are a whole lot of single people in your age range and you are hanging out with the bunch of friends. You met people through friends and it just doesn't happen that way anymore. So dating is dramatically different when you hit that 40 plus mark and so there are whole lot of things to understand and be aware of, if you are trying to get out there dating again; or if you have been dating for awhile and you are wondering why you are just not being successful.
