The vapor barrier should go towards the living space, not the attic.

    Save Money On Heat
I just love my little 'CZ Infrared' portable space heater. My heat bill went up but I saved big time on my main fuel bill. No combustion no venting needed, safe as a light bulb. www.czinfrared.com

Yancey Lowe: Hi! I am Yancey Lowe, General Manager of Utility Service Express. I am going to show you a few things you can do to cut your energy bill and improve your indoor air quality. Right now, you can see I am in an attic and I am going to talk to you a little bit about insulation. A lot of people don't know about insulation, because it's a messy bit, either way most houses in America are under insulated. Major heat loss because fuel is used in the winter, it cost you more money when you go to pay your heating bill.

So what I am going to show you is, it's very easy to fix this problem. You do not have to remove any of your initial insulation, you can just lay any more insulation on top. This is going to normally save up to 30% off on your heating bill. But before we get started, I want to talk about safety. Insulation, it is very fine and it's very rough on the skin. It can breathe into your lungs. So some of the safety items I am using today, the safety glasses, safety mask for the breathing and of course the gloves. So let's get started. As you can see, adding insulation to the house is actually easy as what you see me doing it right now. This insulation does not have to be stapled down, tied down or anything else, just simply laying in the top over the insulation you have and continually doing this throughout the whole roof of the house will help you save bills later on in the winter.
