Eileen Peerless: I am Eileen Peerless, hockey power skating instructor and coach. Today, we are at the Capital Clubhouse at Waldorf, Maryland to demonstrate my power skating method. What we are going to do today, we are going to demonstrate balance drill, forward and backward stride, forward and backward crossovers, the hockey stop and the power turn. My method is very simple. It uses the body and my bend extend technique. If you are learning this skill and you know exactly where your body belongs, you can master that skill. My bend extend technique will give you speed and power. When you take the ice to learn any of these drills, we say, be sure you how knee pads, elbow pads, gloves and a helmet. These will protect you should you fall and you will fall.

Before we begin, let me tell you a little bit about my background. I have 35 years experience in skills development. I have worked with numerous hockey teams at all levels of play. I worked individually with hundreds of students at all age levels. Over the years, I have developed my own power skating method. We are going to demonstrate that method today. So let's get started with our first demonstration, which is going to be balance drills or what I call edge drills. You need to learn how to balance on those edges and that's how we will learn how to do.
