For the Horde!
in this segment reference is made to Alliance being the "good guys" and Horde being the "bad guys", this however is not accurate. the horde are not in fact the steriotyped evil characters, each race under the horde's control have their own backstories which determine their feud with the Alliance, and justly so. for example: the Tauren where almost exterminated by the humans and made a pact with Thrall of the Orcs out of necisity to survive the assaults of the alliance. the undead are under the c

Steve Haines
Guild Master

I am a writer/filmmaker with a BA in Cinema from SFSU. I started playing World of Warcraft as a senior in college suffering from senior-itis. I learned to play the game on my own, and was not affiliated with guilds for most of my WoW life. Only later on did i realize the full potential of working closely with a dedicated group of people.

As a writer/director I guess it is in my nature to take charge, but in my role as a guild master I find myself discovering new ways of working with people from varying backgrounds from around the world. These are valuable lessons that will serve me in whatever else I do in life.

Steve Haines: Hi, I am Steve Haines World of Warcraft expert. I am showing you some of the basic steps for leveling a character in the World of Warcraft. Today, let's talk about character creation. So, let's start at the beginning with character creation in the online game. When you first log into your account you will find this screen. You then populate that screen with new characters by clicking on the create a new character button. This then gives you a list of characters to choose from. Right now, it is pre-selecting a gnome which is a member of the alliance. The Alliance are the game's good guys. You can have a gnome, a Draenei, a night elf, a dwarf or a human on the good guys, the dark side of the World of Warcraft are the Horde. They are the Orc, the undead, the Tauren, the Troll or the blood elf.

You can go on the World of Warcraft website www.worldofwarcraft.com and search for what kind of racial and class distinctions you find to your preference between those characters. In this case, I will choose just a blood elf rogue as our character and you can come up with any name that you want. They will tell you whether or not that name is taken. So, let's call this character since he is a rogue with a dagger we will call him stabby. You then have the option of changing his skin color making him as light or dark or whatever tint you want. You have to choose many options. You can choose his facial features whichever ones are best for you. Change the hairstyle many options, make him as anime as possible, his hair color and then facial hair. You have to choose from, well basically, with the blood elf you are getting to choose from any degrees of goatee.

So, we will create this character and enter the World of Warcraft. Once you have entered the world you will find yourself in the starting zone. This is where the magic happens. This is the beginning and this is where we pick up with quests. That was character creation. Coming up, let's take a look at the user interface in the World of Warcraft game.
