I am a writer/filmmaker with a BA in Cinema from SFSU. I started playing World of Warcraft as a senior in college suffering from senior-itis. I learned to play the game on my own, and was not affiliated with guilds for most of my WoW life. Only later on did i realize the full potential of working closely with a dedicated group of people.
As a writer/director I guess it is in my nature to take charge, but in my role as a guild master I find myself discovering new ways of working with people from varying backgrounds from around the world. These are valuable lessons that will serve me in whatever else I do in life.

Hi, I am Steve Haines, World of Warcraft expert. I am showing you some basic steps for leveling up a character in the online game World of Warcraft. Today, let us talk about guilds. A guild is a small scale version of what the World of Warcraft is as a whole. A guild consists of characters created by real people from around the world. They may be of many different levels and different classes but together, they work for common goals. For some, those goals involve fun and socializing, for others, those goals are focused on End-game progression and the accumulation of the very best items in the game. Guilds have a guild master who is in charge of setting the tone of the guild and any officers if he or she chooses to appoint them. They can be small consisting of just a few friends or huge, comprised of hundreds of players and all of their characters. Some guilds form raid groups to take on the hardest content in the game, 25 players all joining forces to take on computer controlled enemies in a series of fights, leading up to bosses or NPCs with the best possible loot. Other guilds focus on player versus player content. The trick is to find the right guild for your personality with the same goals that you have. So, a guild really is a home in the great big World of Warcraft. It is a place to make new friends to form a new family. No simple video game is going to provide this for you, believe me. What makes this video game what it is are the people who play it and so, now I hope that your steps into the world of warcraft will be a little steadier with the guy.
