Host: What are the book publishing requirements of self or subsidy publishers?

Jim Frey: Self or subsidy publishers like print-on-demand companies, require manuscripts. Self publishers will take them in a paper form or a computer file form like the print-on-demand companies. They will also require funding by the author both to get the book printed as well as services that the author may desire, cover design, illustrations things of that nature. Subsidy publishers are variant of self publishing firms like ours and they essentially have the ability and relationships with major booksellers and internet sites to market the work of an unknown author to the literary marketplace. The author pays for those services as well as the printing.
