Host: What are the types of binding available from publishers and what do they look like?
Jim Frey: One binding style is saddle stitch and what this is, is essentially a stapled way of keeping the pages of the book inside the cover. This is the most economical, very popular for children's books. A second binding style was one that we all know well and that is the paperback binding style. This is the second least costly binding style available for authors. Most of the books for first time authors are done in paperback for cost concerns, but they are very attractive and there are bunch of different options on how to handle paperback binding. The third binding style is hardcover and I have got two examples here. This is the traditional hardcover book; because it's a hardcover, it's more expensive than a previous two options. This you have seen in bookstores many times and a variant of the hardcover binding can be used for children's books and you will see many children's book either in this treatment or the saddle stitch binding treatment.
