Eric Huber: Hi, I am Eric Huber with Blaine Window Repair Service. Today, we are doing window repair. Now, we are going to do a single pane glass replacement also known as a hacking Glass and working with glass make sure you have your gloves and safety glasses. First thing we need to do is remove the putty from the glass and to do that you take a hammer and a chisel and we start to tip the putty away. Once you have your opening cleaned out now you are ready to cut your glass. Take and measure the opening in between the moulins where the glass sits down. Once you have your measurement now you are ready to cut your glass. After you have the glass measured, line up your T-square with keeping the glass cutter up against the edge of the square and you scour the glass.

After you have it scoured, you just need to break it. Now we are ready to install the glass. We would lay the glass into the opening; install push points or glazing points to help keep the glass in the place. Take your screwdriver and push the point into the wood. It would help to use two or three of them to help hold it. Now we have to glaze the window and what you use is a glazing putty compound. To do that, you take and moisten it up a little bit and you can lay the putty down against the wood and push it into the corner. You need to do this all the way around the window opening. After the putty is installed around the glass you need to take your glazing putty knife and smooth it out. To do that you rest the knife up against the glass and the wood and you can pull it towards you. Remove the excess and continue to smooth. The excess putty, it is still new so you can reuse the excess that you trimmed off. Continue smoothing the putty to the desire height to try to match the other likes of glass. When you pull it with your knife you can trim off the excess and that's how to do a single pane glass replacement with putty. Next, we are going to replace rollers on a sliding window.
