Can interracial and intercultural relationships work?

Host: Can interracial and intercultural relationships work? Gloria MacDonald: Interracial and intercultural relationships can work. In fact, my theory is that every relationship is actually an intercultural relationship because every family has its own culture. Just think about it, think about how one family celebrates Thanksgiving. One family is going to have squash and mashed potatoes and peas with their turkey and another family is going to have sweet potatoes and mashed potatoes and green beans with their turkey and these are huge things or think about celebrating a holiday like Christmas. Some families are going to open their presents at night. Some families are going to open them in the morning and even if there are no apparent racial or cultural divides every family is an incredibly strong culture so frankly, every single relationship is an intercultural relationship. Having said that, clearly there are some other added things to what is truly an interracial, intercultural relationship and Anthropologists and Psychologists today would say that frankly, there are greater differences between the sexes between male and female than between any two races or culture on earth.So we have got a lot to deal with already in relationships just between the male and female and then between those cultural relationships just from the fact that we come two different families. So, there is a lot going on. Yes, interracial, intercultural can work, but there is lots to think about.
