Host: Are interracial or intercultural relationships more challenging than relationships where both partners are from the same background? Gloria MacDonald: Interracial and intercultural relationships are definitely more challenging or almost always more challenging then a relationship where the two partners are from the same background because there are layers and layers and layers of complexities. Relationships between two human beings are already challenging enough. We have all kinds of communication things we are dealing with and no two human beings are exactly the same. So you are just adding multiple layers of complexity. So they are definitely more challenging. Having said that there can be absolutely phenomenal, wonderful, incredibly happy relationships between two people of different cultures, different races, different ethnicities.
