Host: What if one person will have to move and leave their culture or country?

Gloria MacDonald: This is a huge question to consider. If you are in a situation where two people come from different countries say, will one person obviously, one person will have to move to another person's country or maybe you are both moving to an independent, a third country but think about. Let's assume that one person is moving to the other person's country, will they have to leave their family and this raises a whole another level of questions in terms of grandparents and how much will that person who is moving, how much of a transition and how much of a change will they have to go through and I don't think you can ever underestimate that. If there is a language barrier that just exacerbates any potential problems, but how much will they miss their culture? How much will they miss their family? Little things, it's amazing because I have lived all over the world. You go to different countries and all of a sudden, your favorite cookie, you just can't get or your favorite cereal or your favorite drink, whatever it is or the milk tastes different or the meat tastes different, there are little things in everyday life which if you haven't lived in someone else's culture you can't even begin to imagine what it would be like for another person to adjust to these changes. It's huge and if there is a change in language, don't underestimate your new partner's challenges in learning a new language. It can be absolutely, physically exhausting to really go through a situation where you are trying to learn a new language, learn a new culture and develop a new relationship with this person all at the same time.
