Host: How should I expect our families to accept our relationship?

Gloria MacDonald: I don't think we should ever live our lives for someone else. So we can't live our lives for our family and what our family will think of us or our partner but it's something that you need to consider in any relationship whether it's an interracial and intercultural relationship or not, because your family is your family and hopefully, we are talking about families that are intact and you are spending holidays together and we know that spending holidays with family can be challenging anytime, but you bring another person into that from a different race, different culture and maybe someone who doesn't even speak your language. It just adds all levels of complications. So you do want to think about how will they impact your relationship with your family? How will your family accept your partner? How will your partner accept your family and what are the long-term implications of this?
