Host: How should I expect our friends to accept our relationship?

Gloria MacDonald: Again, I don't think you should live your life for other people, but obviously, you have chosen your friends. You don't get a chance to choose your family, but you have chosen your friends and hopefully, you have chosen your friends because you like them and you share things with them and they are important to you. So, hopefully again, you don't want to desert your friends, give up your friends for your partner, but your ideal situation is that your partner is able to join your group of friends, be part of your group of friends and also, you want your friends to accept your partner and you want your partner to accept your friends. So don't underestimate again, the challenges here if there are different cultures, different races and again particularly, if there is a different language involved. Ideally, you want everyone to be as comfortable as possible. You want everyone to be as accepting as one another and the more you have in common, the easier it is. The more differences there are between you and your partner, the more differences there will be between your partner and your friends and the more challenges you will have.
