Transcripts
Dr. John Schmitt: Hi, my name is Dr. John Schmitt and I am the Director of General Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Virginia in Charleston, Virginia and today, I am going to talk about pregnancy. I am going to begin prior to conception and try to go all the way through the third trimester of pregnancy. But before I begin, I just want to say if you think you are pregnant or trying to get pregnant I think you should consult with your provider or physician regarding any issues related to pregnancy. This is meant to be a general discussion and obviously, everybody has their own individual concerns and needs. Before I go on I want to tell you a little bit about myself. I grew up and was raised in Texas. I went to the University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio. I was a resident in OBGYN at Duke University Medical Center. I was chief resident there and then went on to be in private practice in Raleigh, in North Carolina for 15 years prior to moving to here where I now direct the general OBGYN group here at UVA. So, let's get started.
