Host: What kind of activities should a pregnant woman avoid? Dr. John Schmitt: Really, there really doesn't need to be any avoidance of activity in the first trimester. Certainly, if they are uncomplicated, not having problems with bleeding, excessive nausea and things like that, I am not sure that really there is any specific thing they have to avoid. Certainly, high risk activities such as extreme skiing, parachute jumping, scuba diving because of the shifts in oxygen and nitrogen and things like that, but normal exercise, normal activity really, there is not any restrictions in early pregnancy.
