Host: When should a pregnant woman see her doctor? Dr. John Schmitt: I think it's really important early in the first trimester to get in touch with and set up their appointment certainly, by about seven to eight weeks gestation, we would ideally like to see patients, but really some people don't know they are pregnant that early and as soon as you know, the sooner the better. We are able to give you more counseling options, talk to you about general health measures, prenatal diagnostic test and etcetera. The earlier you are, the more options we have in terms of counseling, impacting on various illnesses you might have that coexist with pregnancy or things like that.
