Dr. John Schmitt: Hi, I am Dr. John Schmitt from the University of Virginia Health System and today, I am going to talk to you about the second trimester of pregnancy.

Host: How frequently should a pregnant woman visit the doctor in her second trimester? Dr. John Schmitt: Well, usually early in the second trimester which usually begins after about thirteen and a half to fourteen weeks, we still see our patients once a month until somewhere around 28 weeks or just at the beginning of the third trimester so again, assuming they are not having any problems, cramps, spotting, medical illness, anything like that we can still see them once a month and then if they need us they can certainly touch base by phone.
