Transcripts
Host: How can I avoid being audited?
Art Auerbach: You really can't because there are certain number of returns that are randomly selected for exam. Now, if you have questionable items on the return, the more support you attached to the filing the better off you are, because when the return gets picked out by the computer, a classification agent will look at that return and if have attached the substantiation, they will put it back because there is no point in sending somebody out to get the same information you have already sent him. So if there is a real questionable item on the return, you might consider making additional attachments to the filing so that if this event happens then the support is already there.
