Hi, I am Mitch Baker with American Plant Food Company. We are now ready to backfill our planting hole, and we are going to add a root stimulator at the same time. So, we are going to partially backfill this hole with some of the soil mix. This gives us an opportunity to level the tree, straighten it, and make sure we are at the proper grade. We have partially backfilled, at this time we are going to add a biostimulant or a root stimulator. These kinds of things are available again at all garden centers and many hardware stores. You will find them in liquid forms, you will find them in granular forms. We are going to use a granular form today. We are sprinkling a small amount right around the edge of the root ball. This needs to come into contact with the root system, so that's why we are doing it at this stage of the game, not something were putting on top of the soil later. It needs to come into contact with the roots, so we add it at this point. There are also forms that are pre-measured, where you might use the complete packet for one tree, or half a packet. So, there are lots of different forms of these roots stimulators or biostimulants, but they really help enhance root development. They help ensure survival of the new tree, and thats really important. Get it off to a good start.
