Host: What is an average score and what is a good score?
Laura Rheinauer: In 2007, the average SAT score was a 515 in math, 494 in writing and a 501 in critical reading. You asked to good score. It's really hard to say to someone this is a good score because it's so dependant on you, your abilities, your background and especially the schools to which you are applying, what I usually suggest to figure out a good score is to look at the colleges that you are applying to.

Most of them are going to give you a score range that tells you these are the accepted students that applied. This is where their scores fell. So look at your own scores, see if that falls in the range. Of course, they will accept the students that are above that score or below that score but a good score is dependant on the colleges to which you are applying and again, a good score if you have never been strong in math and you end up getting a 500 maybe that's a great score for you.
