    A native of Allentown Pennsylvania, Laura Rheinauer received both her B.A. in History and M.Ed. in Secondary Education from Lehigh University.  Passionate about the field of education, she wrote her Master's thesis on efficacy issues surrounding after-school tutoring programs.  Throughout her undergrad and graduate years she worked as a reading tutor. After working in admissions at both Lehigh and Dickinson College, Laura now assists high school juniors and seniors in making their college application stand out to an admissions committee.  Laura moved down to VA to join Educational Connections as Associate Director to oversee the SSAT administration, test prep, and specialized reading programs.  Orton-Gillingham and Wilson trained, Laura helps place students with reading disabilities in appropriate multi-sensory programs with their assigned tutor.

    Host: How long is the SAT and what does it look like?

    Laura Rheinauer: The SAT is long. Well, I have a better word; it has actually increased in time. The total testing time is three hours and forty five minutes, but when you add in breaks, the time it takes to fill out your name on the scantron sheet and the shuffling of the papers back and forth, you are probably going to be at the testing center for about 7:45 till 12:30 or 1 O'clock. So be prepared for a long, long morning. The SAT looks like a booklet basically with all the different sections already in it. You will be able to move on to another section or go back to a previous section of the test. So that's where all the questions will be, that's were you are going to do all your work in that booklet. You are also going to have a separate scantron sheet and this is where you are going to bubble in using that number two pencil, real nice and dark in the appropriate letters a, b, c, d, or e to answer your questions. There will also be a grid-in section and that's for the math free-response.
