Host: How does family affect stress?
Dava Money: Family can affect stress in many ways. First of all, it is in our family that we learned what is stressful. It is in our family that we learned how to manage stress. If our family is very accepting of us and supportive of us then we have a better time managing stress. If our family is critical of us or has low self-esteem itself then our ability to manage stress is compromised.
If we don't have a supportive family, it's important then to find a surrogate family; people of all different ages that can be friend to us and support us.
