Sasha Correia: Ready, blue, gold and white, defense, hold tight. Hi, I am Sasha Correia and I have been coaching cheerleading for over ten years. Today, I am teaching you how to be a cheerleader. Right now we are going over a sideline cheer and thats the sideline sheer that I am going to be teaching you. So let's start off with the clap, somebody is going to call ready and then you are going to clap nice and tight right here, hands right in front your chin, nice and tight. Ready, and then you are going to clap it out. Let me go over the words with you. So the words are blue, gold and white, defense, hold tight. So you are going to clap those out first after we go ready, clap. When you clap you are just going to step out, clap, out and clap. So you want to make sure when you are clapping that your arms are nice and tight and you are doing sharp motion so your clap is right here. Again, you want to make sure it's not too far out or too close in and there are some variations of claps depending on how your team does it. But this is a pretty popular one so we will focus on this for now. So when you do the claps right in front of your chin, a little bit out and you want to make sure your elbows are in and not out like this. When you clap, you just bring it straight up like this, hit out, clap, out, clap. So it is going to look like this. Ready, blue, gold and white, now from here you are going to go right into the motion so from your clap you are going to take your right foot, put it out and your left foot is going to stay where it is. It's just going to turn a little bit. So then you are in your sidelines, you are going to hit a K position with your arm; right arm across your body in a fist and your left arm in a high V, right there. So you go from the clap, blue, gold and white, you hit D, on the next motion your right arm is going to swing up to a high V or as you turn your body, your left arm goes down like this into a fist position on your hip. So it's D and you want to keep your face forward, facing the crowd, Defense, hold tight. So from here, you drop those arms straight and you just cross-bound your hands as you bend your legs and you keep your head up. So it's D, swing your arm up, fense(ph), hold tight and on the pause, you are going to jump up with your feet together hitting a high V, like that and thats all the motion. So you go from here, let's try it from the beginning. Ready, blue, gold and white, defense, hold tight and you jump with your feet together, hit that high V and then you go right into the clap. Blue, gold and white, defense, hold tight. Blue, gold and white, defense, hold tight. Yeah and on the last one you can even Yeah, like that. At the end, usually, what you do is you can what's called rally and basically, after you go Yeah, you can go Alright, defense or something like that and hit a motion. Thats rallying. So let's go over the cheer one more time. Ready, blue, gold and white, defense, hold tight, blue, gold and white, defense, hold tight, blue, gold and white, defense, hold tight, yeah, go defense, go Eagles. Thats a sideline cheer. Next, we are going to go over showmanship.
