Hi! I am Franklin Taggart. I am a guitar player and a guitar teacher, and what I would like to show you today is a very simple finger picking pattern that you can use for the blues playing on the guitar. The main thing to remember is that your thumb is going to be playing the same string four times in a row for that chord that you are playing. So, if you are playing the A7 chord for instance, the thumb is going to be playing the fifth string, four beats in a row; one, two three four; one two, three, four; that rhythm, that's the driving forces of your overall rhythm for this finger picking pattern. So, your thumb picks on one, two, three, four. Now, your index finger is going to pick the second string on two and in between three and four. So, it goes; one, two, three and four; one, two, three and four, one, two, three and four. See, how that works, it's very easy. Now, we are going to do the same pattern now for the D7 chord. For the D7 guitar chord, your thumb picks the fourth string, your index finger picks the first string; one, two, three and four; one, two three and four, just like that. For the E7 chord your thumb picks sixth and your index finger picks the second string, so it's one two three and four; one, two, three and four; one, two, three and four, very simple, that's how you are going to play this blues finger picking pattern on the guitar, enjoy.
