Host: Will the wedding officiant accommodate our personal preferences?

Bill Cochran: My answer to that is, yes. However, you need to be aware that if you are working with your religious leader, say, a pastor, priest, rabbi or whatever, they probably will bring in a template that has their traditional kind of ceremony in it. In those, it's more difficult to make it real personal, but many of them do the best they can to try to accommodate that.

In the settings in which I work which is outside of the religious organizations I think it's incumbent upon all of us wedding officiants to be as open to your ideas as possible. Now of course, we are personalities ourselves and different ones vary and so you want to find one if it's really important to you, you want to find one who is really open to kind of pushing you to think outside the box and to look at this as your unique and special day. To make sure that you have thought of everything that will make your wedding ceremony really, really special.
